Not necessarily. This course is designed for general users (non-technical). If you can use Google Docs or upload files, you can use NotebookLM.

Is the uploaded information safe?

NotebookLM is designed with security in mind. Google will never use your personal data or uploaded files to train public AI models, and you can delete your data at any time (although always check your organization's policies on using external tools).

How is NotebookLM different from Google Drive Search or Gemini?

Google Drive Search helps you "find files", but NotebookLM helps you "read and understand the contents of files". Gemini (or any general AI) answers based on "knowledge from the internet", but NotebookLM answers based on "the documents you enter", making the answers more specific and accurate to your work. 100%

Do I need to install any complicated programs on my computer?

There's no installation required. NotebookLM is web-based, just like you use Google Docs or Gmail. All you need is a Google account (the same one you use with Gmail) and an internet connection, and you can log in and start using it right away.

I've heard that AI likes to "make up stories" or "hallucinate" things, so how can I trust NotebookLM's answers?

This is the best question! Typical AIs (like Gemini or ChatGPT) can get it wrong because they're answering from "the entire internet", but NotebookLM is designed to answer only from "the documents you enter".
